Hosts Search

The search results should display the hosts with the selected services running on them and relevant information, such as IP addresses, hostnames, locations, tags, and more, as per the available data. This information can help you identify hosts with specific services and effectively manage your network or cybersecurity tasks.

  1. Host Information refers to the details of a particular host or server on the network. It includes the hostname, IP address, operating system, hardware information, and other relevant data identifying and characterising the host.

  2. Service Information includes the various services running on a particular host. Services can be software applications or processes that provide specific functionalities, such as web servers (HTTP), email servers (SMTP), database servers (MySQL), etc.

  3. Service – HTTP refers to the HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) service running on the host. HTTP is the protocol for transferring data over the internet, commonly used to serve websites and web applications.

  4. Service – TLS: TLS (Transport Layer Security) is a cryptographic protocol that ensures secure communication over a computer network. It is commonly used to secure HTTP connections (HTTPS) for websites and other services.

  5. Service – SSH: SSH (Secure Shell) is a cryptographic network protocol that provides secure remote access to a host or server. It allows users to securely log in and execute commands over an unsecured network.

  6. Location or physical address of the host, usually represented by the country, city, and sometimes latitude/longitude coordinates.

  7. Tags are labels or keywords assigned to a host or service to categorise or organise them based on specific characteristics or properties. They can be helpful for easier management and identification.

  8. Whois is a protocol to obtain information about domain names, IP addresses, and other network resources. It details the domain owner, registration date, expiry date, and other relevant data.

  9. ASN (Autonomous System Number) is a unique number assigned to an autonomous system, a collection of IP address ranges under a single administrative control. It helps in identifying networks and their relationships on the internet.

  10. Status Information includes the current operational status of the host or service. It can indicate whether the host is online or offline and if any issues or errors are present.

To search for specific information related to an IP address, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the dropdown menu, likely labelled "IP," within the search interface of ODIN.

  2. Enter the IP address you want to search for in the provided input field. Ensure to enter the IP address in the correct format (IPv4).

  3. Once you've entered the IP address, click the "Search" button to initiate the search process.

  4. The search results will provide information about the specified IP address. This information may include details about the host associated with the IP, geolocation data (country, city, latitude, longitude), registered owner information (if available through the Whois database), and any relevant tags or labels associated with the IP.
